Professor Steven Feld is a MacArthur Fellow and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and he was a member of the faculty of the University of Texas at Austin (UT) until his resignation in September 1995 as a direct result of UT's decision to name the new molecular biology building after Jim Bob Moffett.
